ESET Blacklist Results Added to SiteCheck

Sucuri Security

If you did a SiteCheck scan today, you probably saw a new entry in the Blacklist tab for ESET. ESET has been a good friend of ours and they opened up their URL reputation results so we can verify if websites we scan are also considered malicious by them.

Sitecheck ESET warning

What does this mean for webmasters?

This is a big win for webmasters who can now also be aware if ESET finds any suspicious activity coming from their websites.

ESET is a popular AntiVirus product and if your site is being blacklisted by their engine, anyone using their product would be prevented from visiting your site. They have done some very good work with server-based infections (Darkleech and CDORK), so it might also mean that your server has a malicious module hidden in there.

How do I get a site removed from their blacklist?

If you are a Sucuri customer, just submit malware removal request from your support dashboard. Our team will double check your site, and clean whatever needs to be cleaned, and then contact ESET about it.

If you are not a Sucuri customer using our free SiteCheck scanner, you will need to make sure your site is clean first. Once you do that, email labs@sucuri.net and we will pass your request to them.

ESET’s URL Reputation results were also added to all of our internal scanners so our customers will be automatically notified if ESET ever flags any of their sites.

The total list of blacklist results integrated into SiteCheck now includes:
